Maryland Signs New Recruit for 2008-09 Season

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Erin Stout of Brookeville, MD has committed to swim for the University of Maryland for the 2008-09 season upon graduation from Sherwood High School.

Stout was a national qualifier for the past two years, and competed in 2007 NCSA Junior Nationals in Orlando, Florida. Stout also was honored with the title of co-captain for Sherwood High School's swim team.

Stout also swam for the Rockville Montgomery Swim Club under the guidance of Head Coach Sue Chen.

Specializing in the breaststroke, Stout swam a top time of 1:06.92 in the 100-yard, and a 2:23.53 in the 200-yard.

Stout also competes in 100-yard, 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle, 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke and the 200-yard and 400-yard individual medley.

Stout hopes to major in Kinesiology and Exercise Science.

Maryland has until May 21 to commit athletes for next season before the spring period finishes.
