No. 3 Women's Lacrosse Advances To Quarterfinals With 20-7 Win Against Temple

Senior Katie Pumphrey ignited the Maryland offense with her first goal of the season and the third-seeded Terrapins ended the game with a 12-1 run en route to a 20-7 victory on Mother's Day in the first round of the 2008 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship. The Terps will host No. 12 Duke on Saturday, May 17 at 1:00 p.m. in the quarterfinals at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.

Dobbie Named ACC Player of the Year For Second Time

Senior midfielder Dana Dobbie was named the 2008 ACC Player of the Year, announced May 9 by the Atlantic Coast Conference. She becomes the third player in league history to earn the honor twice, joining Jen Adams and Katie Chrest. Dobbie is the only player from Canada to earn the award.

Senior midfielders Dana Dobbie and Kelly Kasper have been named finalists for the Tewaaraton Trophy, announced May 6 by the Tewaaraton Award Foundation. This marks the first time since 2001 that the Terrapins have had two finalists for the award in the same season, given annually to the best collegiate lacrosse player in the country.

The winner of Sunday's game will meet either No. 6 seed Georgetown or Duke in the quarterfinals.
