COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland baseball team plays a pair of local foes this week, starting with a game at George Mason Tuesday afternoon and a home tilt with UMBC Wednesday night.

The Terps start the week at 11-11. George Mason is currently 9-11 and UMBC is 5-9.

Tuesday's game at George Mason will be a family affair. Terps infielder Joe Palumbo (Bowie, Md./DeMatha Catholic) will go against brothers Jeff Palumbo, a former Patriot great and current assistant coach, and Dan Palumbo, a sophomore infielder.

Senior Brett Tidball will start on the mound Tuesday for the Terps and will oppose Ryan Brecko. Tidball is 2-0 with a 3.55 ERA and Brecko is also unbeaten at 2-0 with a 5.56 ERA.

The Patriots took two of three games from Northeastern last weekend. The majority of the Patriots' offense has come from the duo of Justin Bour and Scott Krieger. Bour is hitting .387 with eight home runs and 27 RBIs. Krieger is batting .372 with nine home runs and 23 RBIs.

Maryland is 17-19 all-time against George Mason.

The UMBC Retrievers have only played 14 games this season as three games have been postponed already. UMBC plays Mt. St. Mary's Tuesday before traveling to College Park Wednesday. Starters have yet to be announced.

The Terps are 29-13-1 all-time against the Retrievers.

WMUCSports.com will have live radio coverage of both contests.
