At Smithsburg: Letterwinner in baseball, basketball and soccer ... was a first-team All-County, All-Conference and All-Area selection, as well as a team captain in baseball ... won the conference batting title and was named his high school's athlete of the year in 2004 ... was also named student athlete of the month in April, 2004 ... career-high batting average came when he hit .492 in 2002, and had career-highs of 13 doubles and four home runs.

Personal: Son of Karen and Jerry Spessard ... has two sisters, Julie and Laura ... hobbies and interests include sports, cars and anything with an adrenaline rush ... was a member of Student Government and the Vice President of Future Business Leaders of America in high school ... biggest athletic thrill came when he hit a walk-off home run against a rival school his sophomore year of high school ... majoring in Agricultural and Resource economics.
