Before Maryland: Cheered for Spirit of Texas ... won NCA Nationals with Spirit of Texas ... made the Junior Olympic Team for gymnastics in 1999.

Personal: Melissa Elizabeth Buck ... parents are Stan and Donna Buck ... nickname is Mel ... has one older brother and a younger sister ... taught cheer camps over the summer ... chose Maryland for its academic reputation and the cheer program ... physiology and neurobiology major.
